EarBee

EarBee is software made for one purpose: learning a song by ear and, if you want, transcribing it into sheet music. You can try it at earbee.org.

Endless frustrations with software made without transcription in mind, with outdated paid software, and with AI transcription software (which defeats the purpose of learning music by ear, i.e. ear training) led me to think about a tailored, modern application made specifically for this one task.

EarBee is free and open source, and I plan to keep it that way. My thinking is that any feature with no ongoing costs should be free, forever. Features that do have ongoing costs (servers to maintain, AI models and so on) should be paid, built as separate modules on top of the free software, and so entirely optional. The base software shouldn't need your private information: download it (it's yours now), use it, and be left alone.
